Mare de Déu del Do
«Virgen del Don» · patrona de Alfafar (Valencia)
Alfahar is a patron of the Mare de Déu del Do, the "Virgin of the Don," whose image the tradition places in the time of the conquest of Valencia by Jaime I.
Origin and history
The Mare de Déu del Do - "Virgen del Don" - is the patron of Alfahar, venerated in the church of Nuestra Señora del Don, an 18th-century building representative of the Valencian popular baroque. The unique title "del Don" (gift, gift) distinguishes it between the asvocations of the Valencia garden.
The local tradition states that the image was found in the 13th century, in the time of the conquest of Valencia by King James I of Aragon; a account of the scope of popular piety. His devotion is lived in the patron parties of the villa.
Canonical coronation: not found in the sources.
