On an impressive cliff that dominates the Guilleries, the Far Shrine keeps the Mare de Déu del Far, a goal of a busy aplec in late August.
Origin and history
The shrine of the Mare de Déu del Far is located on a spectacular cliff at the end of Suscura, in the Guilleries, as one of the great viewpoints of Catalonia. Marian devotion is linked to the atalaya character of the place.
Its devotional feature is the Aplec of the sanctuary, on the last Sunday of August, with Mass, Romeria, Saranas and Country Food, which brings together the faithful of the whole region. The accessible sources do not collect a canonical coronation.
