Origin and history
The Mare de Déu del Mont shrine rises at the summit of the Serra del Mont massif, one of the emblematic tops of Catalonia, dominating the Alt Empordà, the Garrotxa and the Pyrenees. It is a great center of pilgrimage and contemplation of the landscape; there passed seasons the poet Jacint Verdaguer.
His devotion is expressed in local romanies to the mountain sanctuary. The accessible sources do not collect a canonical coronation.
