Mare de Déu del Tallat
District shrine of the Tallat · saw crowned in 1956 (Vallbona de les Monges, Lleida)
On the top of the Tallat saw, on an ancient Benedictine priory linked to Poblet, it venerates the Mare de Déu del Tallat, crowned in 1956 and a pilgrimage center of three Leridan comarcas.
Origin and history
The Tallat shrine is raised to 787 meters, in the homonymous saw, on an old medieval castle. He was born as a Benedictine priory - the church of Santa María del Puig del Tallat was founded in 1354 - and since the 15th century he was dependent on the monastery of Poblet, which maintained a small community there until the exclaution of 1822. The original image, a Gothic size of marble from the 14th century, is now kept in Rocallaura.
After decades of decline, since the 1970s of the 20th century the sanctuary was recovered as a center of the district pilgrimage of l'Urgell, the Segarra and the Conca de Barberà. The image was crowned in 1956, and in 2016 was celebrated the 60th anniversary of the coronation. The accessible sources do not require a fixed date of the employer's holiday.
