Marian devotion
Mare de Déu del Vilar
Blanes Sanctuary (Girona) · crowned in 1955
In the Turó del Vilar, over Blanes, a sanctuary guards the Mare de Déu del Vilar, canonically crowned in 1955, to which the villa rises in Rome on Easter Monday.
Origin and history
The shrine of the Mare de Déu del Vilar rises in the Turó del Vilar, in the serra of Marina, about four kilometres from Blanes, as the center of the Marian devotion of the villa, on the edge of the Costa Brava. The image was canonically crowned on May 30, 1955.
Its most characteristic devotional feature is the Rome of Easter Monday, in which the white people go up to the Turo shrine. It is a place of pilgrimage and lookout over the sea and the Maresme.
