History of the sanctuary
The sanctuary was built to commemorate the apparition of the Virgin Mary in La Salette, France, in 1846. The Virgin appeared to two shepherds and asked them to pray the Rosary.
Every December, the shrine organizes a famous Christmas light festival that attracts thousands of visitors.
