Marian devotion
Guadalupe and Mexican migrants
United States
Mexicans in the United States take Guadalupe as their distant mother.
Thousands of Mexicans have had to leave their country to look for a better future in the United States. In Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and New York, Mexican communities take Guadalupe as their distant mother.
In Los Angeles, there are more than 50 chapels dedicated to Guadalupe. In Chicago, the December 12 procession brings together more than 100,000 people.
Los migrantes dicen: «Guadalupe es nuestra madre aunque estemos lejos de casa.»
