Marian devotion
Guadalupe and the terminally ill
Mexico
Terminally ill patients find peace in Guadalupe.
Place: Mexico
Type: Advocation / Apparition
In Mexican hospitals, terminally ill patients ask for an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to be brought to them. The Virgin Mary is their companion in their final moments.
Tradition says that those who die with an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe go straight to heaven. The Virgin receives them and takes them with her.
Hospital chaplains say that patients who pray before Guadalupe die in peace.
Guadalupe accompanies the sick in his last hours.
