The Virgin of the Merced in Mexico
Mexico City
The Virgin of the Merced protected the prisoners of the Mexican Inquisition.
The prisoner was miraculously released. Since then, the Virgin of the Merced has been the patron of the prisoners of Mexico.
Today, in Mexico's prisons, there are chapels dedicated to the Virgin of the Merced where prisoners pray.
