The Virgin of Cuapa spoke in the midst of the war.
In 1980, Nicaragua was in the middle of a Sandinista revolution. The Civil War had just begun. In this context, the Virgin Mary appeared to Father Bernardo Martínez in Cuapa.
El mensaje fue claro: «No pidan la paz, construyan la paz.» La Virgen no tomó partido por ningún bando. Pidió a todos los nicaragüenses que trabajaran por la reconciliación.
Father Bernardo, who was a parrocher of Cuapa, had to hide from death threats for preaching the message of the Virgin. But he never stopped talking about her.
