Marian devotion
Sister Maria Romero and street children
San José, Costa Rica (of Nicaraguan origin)
Sister Maria dedicated her life to Costa Rica's poorest children.
Tradition tells that when a sick child was about to die, Sister Mary prayed over him and the child was cured. Many of these children became priests or religious.
In 2001, Pope John Paul II beatified her. The Nicaraguans consider her their most dear saint.
