In Managua, the Basilica of Our Lady of Fatima is one of the most important temples in the city. Nicaraguans venerate the Virgin of Fatima with processions and songs.
Tradition tells that the Virgin of Fatima protected Nicaragua during the civil war. The Nicaraguans prayed the Rosary and the Virgin interceded for peace.
Every October 13, thousands of Nicaraguans celebrate the feast of Fatima with special processions and masses.
