Marian devotion
Where is he?
Our Lady of Asunción is the title of the parish known as La Asunción in Tame, municipality of the department of Arauca, Colombia. The Diocese of Arauca includes it in its parish directory with direction in the 15 ° 13-21 race. A heritage inventory of the Aruca Government places the church at the north-eastern end of the Tame main park and notes that the temple has a sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption.
The point of the map has been left in the town of Tame. OpenStreetMap returns an unambiguous administrative relationship for the municipality, but not a sufficiently clear building geometry with which it can be said that the coordinate is the exact GPS of the church. So the precision is declared as locality: serves to guide the reader to Tame and not to present a center as if it were the altar.
Documented history
The civil documentation consulted describes the church of Our Lady of the Assumption as a temple built in 1987, located next to the main park. The same inventory links it to the Diocese of Arauca, identifies it as a place that contains a Marian sanctuary and mentions its use for marriages and for the important acts of the municipality. These are data about the building and its public function; they do not become a more extensive chronology of the parish because there is not enough documentation here to set it.
The directory of the Diocese of Arauca confirms the existence of the parish "La Asunción" in Tame. This ecclesial source allows to distinguish the real parish life from any supernatural affirmation. The Government of Arauca has also spread the city's patron parties in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, documentary proof that the advocation is part of the community and religious calendar of Tame.
Tame is located in the south-west of Arauca, in the transition area between the plain and the last foothills of the eastern mountain range. The church is integrated into the civic center of the population, next to the main park. Its location helps to understand it as a parish of a particular community and not as an abstract sanctuary separate from municipal life.
Tradition
The tradition of the Assumption of Mary belongs to the Catholic faith and is celebrated liturgical on August 15. In Tame, the patron feast expresses the community's veneration for the Mother of Jesus and the request for his intercession. Venerating Mary does not mean adoring her: worship corresponds only to God.
The title of local patron describes the devotional and festive relationship documented by civil and ecclesial sources. No account of apparition is added or a particular message is attributed to the image, because it does not contain such a file in the verified sources for this lot.
Legend
There is no foundational legend of Our Lady of the Assumption of Tame that can be published as a fact. The sources consulted describe the temple, the parish, the local sanctuary and the patron parties, but do not present an approved apparition or miracle. If a documented oral tradition appears in the future, it must be kept separate from the history of the building and the liturgical celebration.
Ecclesial State
The state indicated is permitted veneration, understood here as a public Catholic cult documented in a parish of the Diocese of Arauca, with local sanctuary and patron parties. This label does not claim that there is an approval of apparitions or miracles. For the supernatural phenomenon there is no pronunciation in the sources consulted; therefore no extraordinary tradition is presented as approved.
Anecdotes and stories
The Government's heritage description mentions a balcony at the main entrance that serves to place the choir during Holy Week. It also registers banks, confessionaries and the holding of marriages and other important acts of the municipality. They are simple details, but they show the church's role as an active parish space, as well as a place of pilgrimage and feast.
The patron party links Tame's life with a universal Marian advocation. The community does not need to invent wonders to express its faith: prayer, liturgy, the memory of the people and service to the neighbors are the living history that is documented.
Prayer
Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus and Our Lady of the Assumption, intercedes before God for Tame, for the families of Arauca, for those who serve in their parish and for those who seek comfort. Teach us to live the faith with truth, to care for our communities and to put hope in Christ. Amen.
