The Church of the Immaculate Conception
The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Daugavpils was built in the 19th century by the city's Catholic community. The church houses an image of the Virgin Mary that has been venerated by generations of the faithful.
The Virgin of Daugava
The image of Our Lady of Daugava is a painting depicting the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus, standing on the waters of the Daugava River. Tradition says that the Virgin appeared to a group of pilgrims crossing the river in a boat.

Popular devotions
The faithful of Daugavpils come to the church to light candles to the Virgin Mary and ask for her protection. The most popular tradition is that of the "wishes of the Virgin": the faithful write their petitions on slips of paper and place them in a special box next to the image of the Virgin.
