Origin and history

Our Lady of Grace is the patron of Mascaraque, venerated in her hermitage, catalogued as a hermitage of popular style, of a single rectangular ship. The accessible documentary sources are scarce: it appears consolidated as a Marian hermitage, which is typical of the people, without the precise record of their foundation, authors or greater seniority.

The status of patron is firmly rooted in the life of the municipality, which celebrates the 8 September as the day of the Patron, the Blessed Virgin of Gracia, with a procession very involved by the neighbors. In local religious life, his character as "Mother" and "Grace," understood as a summary of what Mary is to the faithful of Mascaraque, is highlighted. No documented accounts of apparitions or findings have been found.
