Origin and history
The sanctuary of Our Lady of Guayente is raised in a promontory over Sahún, dominating the valley of Benasque, in the Oscense Pyrenees; it is the spiritual center of the Marian devotion of the valley, today also host of social and cultural projects of the region.
The tradition places the origin of the cult in the 11th century, in the early times of the Pyrenees repopulation; a account of the field of popular piety. Its mountain environment makes the sanctuary a place of pilgrimage and contemplation.
