Our Lady of the Vineyards
The image of Our Lady of the Vineyards is an 11th-century Byzantine painting depicting the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus, surrounded by vineyards and grapes. Tradition says that the Virgin appeared to a vintner in Kutaisi during a terrible plague that destroyed the crops.

Local anecdotes
The inhabitants of Kutaisi recount that during the Soviet era, parishioners secretly gathered to pray the Rosary before the image of Our Lady of the Vineyards. Despite the persecution, their faith never died, and the faithful attributed this to the protection of the Virgin Mary.
