Virgin of the Orange
Hermitage of Olocau del Rey (Castellón)
In Olocau del Rey, on the top of the Master, a small hermitage guards the unique Virgin of the Orange, a Roman size seven centuries ago.
Origin and history
The hermitage of the Virgin of the Orange, in Olocau del Rey, is a small and rustic building whose origin dates back to the late 13th or early 14th century. In it is venerated a polychromed Romanesque size of about 85 centimeters, in tarabine wood, which gives name to the unique advocation.
It is a devotion of a local and communal character, specific to the Spanish Master. The accessible heritage sources do not detail legends of apparition or canonical coronation.
Formal patronage, party and canonical coronation: they are not safely recorded in the sources.
