Our Lady of the Rock
Sepúlveda Patron and its Community of Villa and Tierra (Segovia)
On the Hoes of the Durathon, a 12th-century Romanesque church guards the patron of Sepúlveda and its former Community of Villa and Earth; a 13th-century size honored with dances on September 29.
Origin and history
The shrine of Our Lady of the Peña is a 12th century Romanesque church, with Romanesque portico added in the XIII, shrimp, sacristy and porticated gallery, on a high on the Hoes of the Durathon. The headline image is a polychrome size of the late 13th century, venerated as the patron of Sepúlveda and its Community of Villa and Earth.
His feast, on September 29, includes solemn mass, departure from the flag, traditional dances and great popular participation. The Romanesque sanctuary isolated in its promontory and the feast with dances make the Virgin of the Peña the center of the Marian territorial devotion and the sepulvedan identity.
