In the hermitage of la Vega, near Piedrahita, the patron of the Valley of the Corneja is sold; every year, after Pentecost, the villages of the valley go up in local Romeria to their sanctuary.
Origin and history
The hermitage of the Virgin of the Vega is the Marian sanctuary of the Valley of the Corneja, in the surroundings of Piedrahita, where it is sold to the Virgin of the Vega, patron of the valley. It is a spiritual reference place for the people of the region.
Its devotional feature is the regional rostrum of the Monday following the Sunday of Pentecost, at the explanade of the hermitage, with the participation of the villages of the valley; in addition, the image is taken to Piedrahita in September, where it remains until the end of October.
