Marian devotion
Virgin of the Yedra
Patrona de La Adrada (Avila)
In the park of La Nava, a hermitage guards the Virgin of the Yedra, patron of La Adrada; tradition links to an image that "returned" over and over again to the place covered with ivy where she wanted to stay.
Origin and history
The hermitage of the Yedra, in the surroundings of the park of La Nava, is the center of devotion to the patron of La Adrada; the local sources date it in the 16th century, raised on a ruins covered with ivy. It was restored by the contribution of the neighbors.
Tradition tells that an old image, venerated in the Burgohondo Abbey, "returned" repeatedly to La Adrada by passing there, so the people welcomed her as a patron; another version speaks of an ivy finding after the Muslim invasion. His party, around 8 September, culminates with the auction of the offerings and the banzos to return the image to the hermitage.
Canonical coronation: not found in the sources.
