Our Lady of the Snows
Aspe and Hondon de las Nieves (Alicante)
Our Lady of the Snow is a shared patron of Aspe and Hondon of the Snow; every two years, her image goes through the Romeria of "La Traida" the road between the shrine of Hondon and Aspe.
Origin and history
The image is usually venerated in the shrine of Our Lady of the Snow of Hondon of the Snow, and is patron of both this town and neighbouring Aspe, a peculiar feature of shared patronage between two villages.
Its most characteristic devotional feature is the "La Traída" Romeria: every 3 August of the even years the image is moved from its shrine of Hondon to Aspe, where it remains a time before returning, in one of the most felt Marian celebrations in the region.
