Patrona de Tomelloso (Ciudad Real)
In the area of Pinilla, a hermitage guards the Virgin of the Viñas, patron of Tomelloso and the land of wine; its rostery in late April is one of the most multitudes of La Mancha.
Origin and history
The sanctuary is located in the area of Pinilla, about four kilometres from Tomelloso. The current image is a size made in Valencia. The Virgin of the Viñas was named patron of Tomelloso in 1942 and, in 1949, patron of the former National Union of the Vine, stressing its link with the wine world.
His devotion is expressed above all in the great rostrum to the shrine of Pinilla on the last weekend of April, one of the most beloved celebrations of Tomelloso, and at the feast of August 25. The sources do not collect a concrete foundational legend.
