Among Sabinas and with the Peak in the background, a 16th century hermitage guards the Virgin of the Enebrals, "La Serrana," patron of Tamajón and devotion of all the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara.
Origin and history
The hermitage of the Virgin of the Enebrals is a 16th-century temple of Romanesque tradition, renovated in the 18th with Renaissance elements; it rises about two kilometres from Tamajon, next to a sabinar, with the peak of the Opejón at the bottom, in one of the areas of the region's greatest devotion.
Inside is the image of Our Lady of the Enebrals, familiar as "La Serrana," patron of Tamajón and advocation extended throughout the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara. The enclave, isolated between sabinas, is a place of communal pilgrimage.
