In El Toboso, the homeland of Dulcinea, is sold to the Blessed Virgin of the Remedies, an ancient and excellent patron of the village; a patronade documented since 1575, lost with the deamortization and restored with joy in 2009.
Origin and history
The Toboso was organized after the repopulation under the Order of Santiago, with a primitive parish under the title of Our Lady of the Angustias. In this context, the devotion to the Virgin of Remedies, of which there has been a certain record since at least the 16th century: documents of 1575 testify to her devotion and patronage over the villa. He was a patron until the mid-19th century, when, with the decriminalization of Mendizábal, his former patronage was extinguished. In 2009 the parish lived the restoration of the patronage of its "old and excellent patron," recovering the parties and public worship with solemn mass and procession on August 15.
Tradition speaks of the "Well of the Virgin," where, according to legend, the Virgin of the Remedies saved a woman who had fallen inside. The Toboso is universally known as the homeland of Dulcinea, and some cultural materials integrate Marian devotion into the set of cervical symbols of the villa, although there is no direct historical link between the advocation and a person identifiable with Dulcinea: it is a symbolic-literary framework.
