Marian devotion
Our Lady of Navahonda
Sanctuary of the saw · Robledo de Chavela (Madrid)
In an area of the saw, 11 kilometres from Robledo de Chavela, the Navahonda hermitage guards the patron of the village, the goal of a spring rosemary of very old roots.
Origin and history
The devotion to Our Lady of Navahonda is linked to her hermitage, located in the area of Navahonda, about 11 kilometres from the urban town of Robledo de Chavela, in the middle of the saw. Tradition considers it very old - some sources date back to 1113 - although accessible sources do not require an exact annual liturgical date.
She is a patron of Robledo de Chavela, and her devotion is expressed in the rostery of the Virgin of Navahonda, which is celebrated in spring and gathers the neighbors around the serrano sanctuary. The accessible sources do not contain a detailed formal canonical patronage or canonical coronation.
Precise liturgical date, formal canonical patronage and canonical coronation: they are not safely recorded in the sources.
