Cebreros pattern (Avila)

In the Valsordo valley, a hermitage guards the patron of Cebreros, formerly called the Victories, the Battle or the Toros; every August a month passes between the neighbors, in the urban centre.

Origin and history

The hermitage of Valsordo, about two kilometres from Cebreros, is the main place of Marian worship of the villa; there it venerates the patron, formerly known as Our Lady of Victories, Battles or Toros. The image is transferred to the parish of Santiago Apostle from late July to early September.

Tradition goes back to the times of Arab domination, with stories of wonders in the face of invasions; narrations of the field of popular piety. Devotion is lived with intense participation in the May, the ninth, the floral offering and the feast of the Assumption.
