Our Lady of the Olive
Old Mercedary Sanctuary of Estercuel (Teruel)
Along with Estercuel, the old convention - the merchant sanctuary of Our Lady of the Olivar is one of the oldest of the Order of the Merced in Spain, the cradle of devotion and culture in the Turolian Master.
Origin and history
The shrine of Our Lady of the Olivar, next to Estercuel, is linked to the Order of the Merced and is one of its oldest convents in Spain; tradition links the finding of the image to a farmer, next to an olive tree, from which it would take the name. It was an important religious and cultural center of the Torolese Master.
The devotion to the Virgin of the Olivar lives with romance and parties, and the sanctuary remains a place of prayer and welcome. The accessible sources do not accurately specify the date of the party or a canonical coronation.
Date of the feast and canonical coronation: they are not safely recorded in the sources.
