Marian devotion
Where is he?
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces is in Varignano, municipality of Arco, province of Trento (Italy), in Via Dante Aligheri. The coordinate is based on the document of the Arco City Council, which publishes the direction and its geographical data, and coincides with the point of worship identified by OpenStreetMap as Convent Madonna Delle Grazie.
Documented history
The City of Arco places the decision to build the convent in 1478. Count Francesco d'Arco did not see the work completed and left in his will the assignment to his heirs, Andrea and Odorico, according to municipal information. The foundation linked the religious life of the community from the beginning to the veneration of the Marian image preserved in the church.
The history of the whole also passed through the Napoleonic occupation. The convent was requisitioned and the friars were dispersed. The inhabitants of Varignano put the statue of the Virgin on the altar, which was the subject of special veneration, to safety. The present church was built in 1857 on the same ground as the previous one, according to the project of the architect Antonio Conci de Trento. The temple retains an 18th-century polychrome marble altar and other works linked to the Franciscan history of the place.
Tradition
The local tradition is concentrated on the Marian statue venerated on the altar and on the protection that the inhabitants wanted to offer during the invasion. This decision to save it is part of the historical memory of Varignano and expresses the affective and religious value of the image. It does not appear as an apparition: the sources consulted describe a convent, a church and a statue that is the object of veneration.
Legend and limits of the record
There is no independent foundational legend or account of apparition associated with the sanctuary. The expressions on graces received belong to the devotional experience of those who pray in the face of the image, but the municipal information does not provide a file that allows for the declaration of concrete miracles. Maintaining this distinction protects both the historical truth of the place and the piety of its visitors.
Ecclesial State
Consta permitted veneration: the sanctuary and convent are a Catholic place of prayer, entrusted to the Franciscan tradition and recognized in the public information of the municipality. The sources consulted do not contain a formal statement on supernatural apparitions or miracles, because the history of Arc is not presented as an apricionist record.
Anecdotes and stories
The episode of the statue hidden during the Napoleonic occupation shows how a community can guard its religious heritage in a time of conflict. The reconstruction of 1857, raised on the previous site, retains the continuity of the place without erasing the ruptures suffered by the community. The sanctuary thus unites a foundation of modern times, the memory of the scattered friars and the current life of Varignano and Arc.
Prayer
Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus, intercede for the communities that guard their churches in times of difficulty. Help us to protect the faith, memory and dignity of each person, and to put our goods at the service of peace. Amen.

Continuity of Varignano
The story of Our Lady of the Graces of Arc is better understood by following the continuity of the place. The decision of Francesco d'Arco to lift the convent in 1478 appears first; then, the interruption caused by the Napoleonic occupation and the dispersion of the friars; finally, the church reconstructed in 1857 on the same floor. The statue saved by the inhabitants of Varignano functions as a visible thread between these stages, because the community treated it not as an indifferent object, but as an image of prayer and belonging.
The tab uses the municipal coordinate of the sanctuary and contrasts it with the point of veneration of OpenStreetMap. This allows the building to be located without inventing an inner point for the altar, works of art or the old conventual dependencies. Cartographic accuracy and historical accuracy follow the same rule: to say exactly what source allows each thing to be affirmed.
Arc does not need an apparition account to be a complete Marian tab. The foundation, the venerated statue, the occupation, community protection and the reconstruction of the temple offer a sufficient and documented history. Prayer before the image is presented as a request for intercession to Mary and as a way to Christ, in continuity with the Christian life of the sanctuary.
