Documented history
The Diocese of Cuenca documented the fiftieth anniversary of the canonical coronation of Our Lady of Rus in a celebration presided over by the bishop in 2019. The diocesan source presents the Virgin as patron of St. Clement and describes the devotion of her faithful.
Tradition
The local tradition preserves two main moments of the rosemary: the coming of the Virgin and her return to the sanctuary. The website of the City of San Clemente describes the process transfer between the town and Rus, as well as the temporary exchange with the image of the Virgin of the Remedia. These data are presented as a living tradition and not as evidence of a supernatural apparition.
Legend
The municipal information itself transmits as a legendary account that a pastor found the image in a cave and received a request from the Virgin for a hermitage to rise. We indicate it as a legend or tradition transmitted, not a documented story.
Ecclesial State
The sources consulted document Catholic veneration, sanctuary, brotherhood and canonical coronation. There is no formal judgment on the supernatural of the foundational account; therefore, an ecclesial state of apparition is not assigned to this fact sheet.
Anecdotes and stories
The rosemary of the Virgin of Rus is declared of Regional Tourist Interest and brings together many pilgrims in San Clemente. The City Council also describes the career of the bearers, the songs and the mass held in the surroundings of the hermitage.
Prayer
Holy Mary, Our Lady of Rus, intercedes before your Son Jesus Christ for families, the sick and those who pilgrim with hope. Teach us to live faith with humility, to serve others and to remain close to God. Amen.

Annual Romry and the Exchange of Images
Municipal information describes a rosemary organized in two moments of the year. The first is held on Sunday following the Sunday of Resurrection: the carriers move from San Clemente to Rus the image of the Virgin of the Remedia, while the Virgin of Rus is on the way to the town. The tour between San Clemente and Rus is about nine kilometres and takes place between songs and cheers; an outdoor mass is held in the sanctuary.
The municipal source indicates that the images are carried on the shoulders by squads of 24 men chosen by a public auction of the walks. After the arrival in San Clemente, the Virgin of Rus participates in a procession through the town and enters the church in the midst of the crowd. The municipal news estimates that the coming can bring together more than 15,000 people on a weekend; it is kept as an estimate of that source, not as an independent count.
After forty days, the first Monday next is celebrated the so-called Rus Day, which invests the exchange of images so that each one will return to its place. The annual sequence - coming, staying, processions and return - explains the strength of local devotion and completes what diocesan sources describe as a tribute to the patron of St. Clement.
Coronation as an expression of devotion
In 2019 the Diocese of Cuenca commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of the canonical coronation of Our Lady of Rus. In his homily, the bishop presented coronation as a sign of respect, filial love and obedience to God, and recalled that the veneration of Mary makes sense within the follow-up to Jesus Christ. This diocesan explanation helps to read the feast from the intercession of Mary and not from worship, which corresponds only to God.
