Marian devotion
Where is he?
Tà Pao is located in the hilly area of Đng Kho, in the Vietnamese diocese of Phan Thithe. The point of the map corresponds to the cartographic node that identifies the statue of ĐĐc MħTà Pao. It is presented as a cartographed place of the image and not as a coordinate of each devotional account associated with the mountain.
Documented history
The statue of Tà Pao is part of the great Marian images raised in Vietnam around the Marian Year of 1959. The story published by the Diocese of Phan Thiápt places the blessing and inauguration on December 8, 1959, during the ministry of Bishop Marcel Piquet. The monument has since been linked to the prayer of Catholic communities in the centre and south of the country.
Over time, the statue was damaged and the place lost some of its public activity. The restoration ended on July 30, 1991 and the image was solemnly reinstalled on August 1. The diocese also documents the placement of the first stone of the new pilgrimage complex on August 13, 2006. The existence of the Marian centre and its diocesan celebrations is documented in the episcopal sources.
The news of the diocese shows that Tà Pao is still a point of pilgrimage and prayer. The name of the sanctuary is attached to masses, diocesan days and meetings of faithful. This pastoral activity is not used to state that every extraordinary account has ecclesial approval.
Tradition
Popular devotion attributes to Mary's intercession thanks and healing received by pilgrims. It also transmits the story of a statue that, after years of deterioration, was restored with ecclesial authorization and returned to the mountain. The restoration does belong to the history of the place; the particular graces must remain personal testimonies until there is a public record that recognizes them as miracles.
Legend and limits of the record
Some later narrations speak of apparitions or a figure seen by students on the mountain. The cross-cutting sources do not provide a pronunciation that declares a supernatural apparition of Tà Pao. For this reason the fact sheet does not present these stories as proven facts or as episcopal approval.
Ecclesial State
Se consigna veneration _ permitted to express the existence of a diocesan Marian centre with public worship and pilgrimage. It is not claimed that the Church has approved a local apparition or a concrete miracle. As in every Marian Catholic devotion, prayer calls for the intercession of Mary and leads to Jesus Christ; worship is reserved to God.
Anecdotes and stories
The recent history of Tà Pao is marked by the restoration of 1991 and the development of the pilgrimage complex initiated in 2006. In 2019 the diocese celebrated the sixty years of the blessing and placement of the statue. These celebrations make visible how a damaged image can become, with pastoral permission, a place of prayer and hope for many families.
Prayer
Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus, accompanies the pilgrims of Tà Pao and those who seek comfort on the mountain. He pleads for families, for those who suffer and for those who work for peace. Teach us to receive all grace with humility and to follow your Son. Amen.

Historical context and prudence
Tà Pao can be understood in three documented moments: the placement and blessing of the statue in 1959, its restoration and re-installation in 1991, and the development of the pilgrimage complex since 2006. The continuity between these moments belongs to the pastoral history of the Diocese of Phan Thiápt. There is no need to add unverified dates or to convert devotional expressions on the mountain into an apparition file.
The diocesan news presents the center as a place of mass, pilgrimage and prayer. This description explains the state of veneration allowed and the presence of Tà Pao on the map. The graces that each pilgrim claims to have received may be important to his conscience and to the community, but they do not automatically become recognized miracles. The fact sheet keeps that difference so as not to attribute to the Church a judgment that is not recorded.
The point comes from a nominal node of Nominatim that identifies the statue of Đc MħTà Pao. The accuracy of the cartographed place has been preserved and it is not said that the coordinate measures the top, the altar or a scene of local traditions. The location serves to guide the reader to the documented Marian center.
The Community's Memory
The restoration of Tà Pao also recalls that a sanctuary is built with people: bishops who authorize, communities who collaborate, pilgrims who pray and families who maintain a tradition. The history of the monument can be told without adding an imaginary geography or a non-existent approval. As the Marian center offers a place for mass and prayer, its pastoral importance is affirmed by diocesan sources and does not need to be based on unproven stories.
Tà Pao's devotion is especially expressed in the rosary and in the Marian celebrations of the diocese. The fact sheet does not attribute an autonomous will to the statue, nor does it present the mountain as a magical place: the Christian sense of the pilgrimage is to ask for the intercession of Mary and to thank God. The difference between veneration and idolatry is also preserved in the language of the map and the ecclesial state.
