Marian devotion
Where is he?
The Grotto of Our Lady of Victory is in Manfo, Ghana, and is part of the parish of Our Lady of Victory of the Diocese of Goaso. The diocesan page places it within the decanate of Tepa and describes the life of the parish. As OpenStreetMap does not return an unequivocal point of the Manfo Grotto, the map uses the reference of the municipal district of Ahafo-Ano North and declares accuracy province. It's not the inside GPS of the compound.
Documented history
The diocese of Goaso documents that the Catholic community of Manfo began in 1937 and that during its first years it functioned as a station linked to Tepa. With the help of the catechist and Father Paul Theresa Amoako, the community built a grotto called Our Lady of Victory Grotto, opened in 1978. The same page indicates that the faithful came to pray on Tuesday and on the Solemnity of the Assumption.
In 2003, Manfo became a parish, after the petition to the bishop by the parish priest of Tepa. The diocesan page retains the names of the parish invocation, the dependent communities and the history of their first leaders. These data allow us to speak of a specific parish tradition, but they do not allow us to invent an artistic history of the grotto, a number of pilgrims or a date of legal erection of the sanctuary that is not recorded.
Prayer and community life
The grotto is presented as a place of Marian prayer within a living parish. The visits of Tuesday and the feast of the Assumption show a local devotional practice. Mary is venerated as the Mother of Jesus and is asked to intercede for the faithful; worship corresponds only to God. A Catholic grotto is not an amulet and does not make the ground an automatic source of graces.
In 2026 the diocese of Goasus celebrated several days of prayer, Rosary, procession and mass in the Manfo Grotto during the solemnity of the Assumption. The diocesan news presents the encounter as a celebration of faith, unity and thanksgiving and encourages the place to remain a center of prayer and pilgrimage.
Tradition and Legend
The research report contains a local tradition about the priest who prayed at night despite warnings about animals and spirits. It is preserved as a local tradition, not as proof of a supernatural phenomenon. There is no Marian apparition in Manfo, no concrete miracle recognized by the diocese, nor any such canonical research.
Ecclesial State
The diocese of Goaso identifies the parish, the grotto and its use for prayer and pilgrimages. Registered permitted veneration for this public Catholic devotion. There is no specific pronunciation of supernatural; the fact sheet does not present Our Lady of Manfo's Victory as an approved apparition.
Prayer
Holy Mary, Mother of the Victory of Christ, accompanies the community of Manfo and all pilgrims. Intercede before your Son for families, for those who seek peace and for those who serve the Church, so that prayer may be translated into charity. Amen.
