The Cathedral of St. Patrick in Manhattan is the most famous Catholic cathedral in the United States. It was built between 1858 and 1878.
History of the Cathedral
The cathedral was dedicated to Saint Patrick, patron of Ireland, but the Virgin Mary is venerated as a protector of the community. The cathedral has a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit the cathedral to celebrate the feast of Saint Patrick on March 17.
