Our Lady of the Miracles of Caacupé
Caacupé, Paraguay
The Virgin of Caacupé is a patron of Paraguay. An indigenous man hid it from the invaders.

In the 17th century, an indigenous Guaraní carved an image of the Virgin. When he saw the invaders coming, he hid the image in a tree trunk. When he came back, the image had disappeared from the trunk and was sitting on a rock, smiling.
The Guarani interpreted this as the will of the Virgin to stay in Caacupé. Today, every 8 December, millions of Paraguayans walk to the sanctuary.
The Virgin of Caacupé is the mother who understands the Guaraní language and traditions of the peoples of Paraguay.
