🌹 Wonders and anecdotes
- On 1 September 2019 Hurricane Dorian, category 5 and with winds of 185 miles per hour - a record for the Bahamas - stopped over Abaco for more than a day: the school was completely destroyed and the temple lost the roof and part of a wall.
- Even wounded, the temple became a refuge: for weeks it hosted evacuees from the storm, including many Haitian families who had lost everything.
- The San Francisco de Sales school reopened in mid-October 2020 for about 80 primary students, first in virtual mode; its reopening was a breath of hope for the entire Marsh Harbour community.
- The reconstruction of the temple began in early 2021, supported by the charity of the whole Church: Catholic Charities USA contributed $340,000 through the archdiocese of Miami, whose southern Florida faithful also collected about $700,000 for Dorian victims; on Easter 2021 the parish already distributed aid from the temple.
