The crown of Fatima
Fatima, Portugal
The crown has the bullet of the attack on John Paul II.
The image of the Virgin of Fatima was crowned canonically in 1946. The crown was offered by Portuguese women in gratitude for having delivered Portugal from World War II.
In 1982, Pope John Paul II donated the bullet that wounded him in the attack. The bullet was embedded in the crown, as a witness to the protection of the Virgin.
Today, the crown has the bullet as a reminder that the Virgin protects her children.
