The Pope visited Fatima three times and consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
On May 13, 1981, a year after the attack, John Paul II visited Fatima as a pilgrim to thank the Virgin for saving her life.
On March 25, 1984, the Pope consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, fulfilling the request of the Virgin. Lucia confirmed that the consecration had been accepted.
The Pope donated the bullet of the attack on the image of Fatima, which today has embedded in his crown.
