The Siberian monastery with the miraculous icon of the Virgin of Abalak.
The Monastery of the Trinity of Abalak was founded in 1683 near Tobolsk. According to tradition, in 1636 a merchant named Semion Agalakov received a vision of three saints who told him to find an icon of the Virgin Mary in the forest.

The icon found is a copy of the Virgin of Kazan. He was placed in a wooden chapel and soon began to work miracles. The icon became the protector of Siberia and was venerated by Cossacks, merchants and natives.
The monastery today
The monastery was destroyed during the Soviet era and restored in the 1990s. Today is an active pilgrimage center. The Abalak icon party is held on August 20.
