The Cathedral of San Miguel Archangel of Sochi was built in 1890- 1891 in the center of the city. It is the main Orthodox church in Sochi and houses 19th-century Marian icons.
Marian devotion in the Caucasus
The Caucasus region has its own Marian tradition, influenced by the proximity of Georgia, one of the most devoted countries of the Virgin Mary. The Georgian icons of the Virgin are also venerated in the Russian churches of the Caucasus.
