The icon of the Virgin of Verjoturye was found in the 17th century in circumstances considered miraculous. The icon is a copy of the Virgin Hodigitria and is believed to protect the inhabitants of the Urals.
Pilgrimage to the Urals
Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit the monastery of Verjoturye. The most important pilgrimage takes place in July, during the feast of the icon of the Virgin of Verjoturye.
