Marian devotion
Where is he?
The shrine of Our Lady of Wola Gułowska is located in Wola Gułowska, in the voivodship of Lublin, Poland. The co-ordinate points to the place cartographed by OpenStreetMap as Wola Gułowska and is preserved with location accuracy: the research report does not provide an unequivocal geometry of the building or image that will allow to affirm greater accuracy. The fact sheet refers to the Carmelite sanctuary and the image venerated there, not to a coordinate of the apparition that tradition places at another point.
Documented history
The institutional history of the whole is linked to the presence of the Carmelites and to the foundation of the monastery and the church. The story published by the Carmelite group itself explains that the arrival of the religious and the creation of the house were related to Ludwik Krasiński, born in 1609 and died in 1644. The temple and the convent thus form the historical framework in which the veneration of the image of Our Lady of Gułowska was developed.
The same institutional source relates the sanctuary to the memory of the Battle of Kock of 1939. The research report notes that the fighting of September 4 and 5 affected the monastery and the church, and that from that memory comes the title of Patroness of the Soldiers of September. The link with military history is presented as a historical memory and not as a proven statement of supernatural intervention.
The coronation of the image was held on 5 September 1982. The Carmelite source indicates that the ceremony was promoted by the Bishop of Siedlce Jan Mazur and the custodians of the convent; the image was crowned with papal crowns by the primacy of Poland, Archbishop Józef Glemp. The coronation page also retains the institutional documentation of the Holy See's permit dated November 9, without this fact sheet turning the coronation act into an approval of an apparition.
Tradition
The tradition of the sanctuary tells that in 1548 a woman named Barbara would have seen the Virgin next to a cruise and that Mary would have asked for a chapel to rise. Devotional sources retain this account as the origin of veneration. In the document it is kept in the section of tradition: it is not stated that the episode has been tested by a modern file or that there is a decree declaring the apparition supernatural.
The memory of the image and its graces is also transmitted. The coronation, the pilgrimages and the use of the title Patron of the Soldiers of September document the public importance of the cult. The graces attributed by the faithful are expressed as devotional testimonies; there is no concrete healing as a medical or canonical miracle because it does not contain the necessary documentation here.
Legend and limits of the record
The wonderful details of the foundational account belong to the pious tradition. The existence of the monastery, the history of the Carmelites, the 1982 ceremony and the memory of the battle of Kock are distinguished from the supernatural affirmation. Nor does the verified sources contain a pronunciation of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith on the apparition of 1548.
Ecclesial State
The state is stated as permitted veneration. There is a public Catholic sanctuary, a custodial community and a crowned image with pontifical authorization. This label describes the situation of the cult and does not declare the traditional apparition approved. Mary's veneration is a request for intercession before God; worship corresponds only to God.
Anecdotes and stories
The title of Patroness of the Soldiers of September unites the religious history of the sanctuary with the memory of those who defended the area in 1939. The choice of the date of the coronation, near the anniversary of that battle, retains that historical relationship. The Carmelite set allows you to see how a sanctuary can gather local memory, pilgrimage, religious life and prayer for the deceased without each element having the same degree of documentation.
Prayer
Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus, pray for those who live the consequences of wars and those who work for peace. Help us to preserve the memory with truth, to ask for your intercession with confidence and to follow Christ with charity. Amen.

The memory of the sanctuary and the prayer for peace
The history of Wola Gułowska is not reduced to the act of coronation. The Carmelite monastery retains a memory of religious life, of attention to pilgrims and of relationship with the history of the region. Institutional documentation makes it possible to speak of this framework with certainty; when tradition adds supernatural details to the origin of the cult, they are expressly maintained as tradition. This way of presenting the fact sheet protects both the memory of the faithful and historical honesty.
The date of the coronation, 5 September 1982, was linked to the memory of the soldiers of September and the history of the defense of the area in 1939. The Marian title does not canonize military events, nor does it give the image a magical function: it invites people to pray for those who died, for those who suffered and for the reconciliation of peoples. The intercession of Mary is understood within the Christian prayer, which leads to Christ and recognizes God as the only object of worship.
