Marian devotion

In the Wulai mountain valley, territory deeply linked to the indigenous Atayal people, is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima. The Virgin is honored here in a living community that unites pilgrimage, Eucharist, Rosary and silent worship.
Chinese name: The Holy Mother of Ulya Fatima.
Place: 90 Wenquan Street, Wulai, Nueva Taipéi.
Documented establishment: 1963.
Jurisdiction: Catholic archdiocese of Taipei.
Advocation: Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima.
Universal party: May 13.
A mountain sanctuary
The sanctuary rises on the core of Wulai, between slopes covered with vegetation and by the Nanshi River Valley. The official statistical yearbook of the district includes the Catholic institution of Wenquan Street 90 and the year of establishment is the year 52 of the Republic of China, equivalent to 1963. This civil data makes it possible to establish with certainty the institutional presence of the sanctuary, although it should not be confused with all subsequent construction or reform milestones.
Its location gives this devotion an expression of its own: the universal message of Fatima is rooted in a population with a strong atayal identity. The local Church expressly presents the place as a sanctuary and maintains it within the fifth pastoral demarcation of the Archdiocese.
Devotion to the "Virgin of Stone"
The official record of the Archdiocese announces a specific time of veneration, called after the Mass, every Saturday Hail, Holy Mother of Rock.literally "devotion to the Stone Virgin." A story preserved by the Taiwanese Catholic weekly relates this memory to an image or representation made on a stone slab in local pastoral circumstances.
Life of prayer and pilgrimage
The community publishes daily masses, monthly celebration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and weekly veneration of the Virgin of stone. Eucharistic veneration is available 24 hours a day. In 2025 the archdiocese chose Wulai for a Jubilee youth pilgrimage with night vigil, a sign that the sanctuary continues to host diocesan prayer.
The spirituality of Fatima leads to Christ: conversion, penance, prayer for peace and daily prayer of the Rosary. The sanctuary does not present a new local apparition, but a Taiwanese incarnation of the advocation born in Portugal in 1917.
Verified location
The address is in the archdiocese and in the municipal register: number 90 of Wenquan Street. The individual cartographic geometry of the temple is focused on 24.8610595, 121.5514772; the marker does not correspond to the nearby thermal hotels or the presbyterian church of Wulai.
Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima of Wulai
Mother of the Rosary, who welcomes your children among the mountains of Wulai, teach us to listen to Christ with a simple heart. He keeps the Aathyal people, blesses the Church of Taiwan and receives the prayer of those who seek peace, conversion and comfort. Make us pilgrims of hope and servants of reconciliation. Amen.
