Marian devotion
The small Catholic community of Turkmenistan lives around the sui iuris mission entrusted to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Their presence in Asjabad is real and documented; the fact sheet does not need to create an apvocation to show the filial relationship of these faithful with Mary.
Documented history
In 1997, the Holy See entrusted the Catholic mission of Turkmenistan to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Vatican Radio and Vatican News have described the community gathered in the capital, its numeric small and patient work of the missionaries. The pro-cathedral is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord: that is the verifiable title of the temple, not "Virgin of the Desert."
Mary in the life of mission
The Oblate charism bears in its own name the reference to the Immaculate and Catholic life includes the Marian feasts and prayers of the universal Church. This makes it possible to speak rigorously of Marian presence without attributing to the place apparitions, sizes, patterns or promises that do not reflect in the sources consulted.
Tradition and prudence
The old record narrated an apparition during a sandstorm and clandestine meetings in a particular size. No institutional support has been found for these accounts. They are preserved as a trace of previous editorial work, but not as an accredited tradition or as a history. The memory of Catholics deported in Central Asia requires specific sources before it is allocated to this particular community.

The marker points to Asjabad with approximate urban accuracy, enough to place the mission without pretending to coordinate an unpublished access by the source.
