The Namugongo Sanctuary is the place where 22 Ugandan Catholics were martyred in 1886. The Virgin Mary is venerated with the martyrs as a protector of the faith.
The Ugandan faithful celebrate the feast of the Uganda Martyrs every 3 June, praying the Rosary before the Virgin and recalling the sacrifice of those who gave their lives by faith.
The martyrs of Uganda teach us that faith is worth more than life.
