In the port of Saigon, Vietnamese sailors venerate the Virgin of Carmen. They carry an image on their ships and pray to him before they sail.
Tradition tells that the Virgin of Carmen protected Vietnamese sailors during the war. Sailors say they sometimes see a light on the sea when the storm is stronger.
Every 16 July, the sailors organize a maritime procession in the port of Saigon.
