The image and the sanctuary

Polish parishes often venerate a replica of the Czestochowa icon, blessed or brought from the shrine of Jasna Góra. It is not known that the Winnipeg temple is officially recognized as a Polish national sanctuary (the best documented Polish sanctuary in Canada is that of Mississauga, Ontario). There is no local coronation of the image.

Sponsorship and coronation

Invocation of popular devotion; there is no official recognition of the Church as a sanctuary in Winnipeg. The original image of Czestochowa is canonically crowned in Poland; local replicas do not consist of their own coronation. The patronage is spiritual, over the Polish community.

Party and devotion

The main feast is Our Lady of Czestochowa, on August 26, according to the Polish calendar, with solemn masses and processions. The great Marian parties (Immaculate, Asunción) are also celebrated with solemnity. In many Polish parishes in Canada there are exvotes of thanks for protection during war and emigration, but such accounts are kept as personal testimonies, not officially recognized miracles.
