How to use this guide, and a warning

Each place is explained with three things: what it is, what happened there (with date) and what it looks like today. All data come from official sources downloaded and verified on 21 September 2026: el Santuario de Fátima (fatima.pt), el Carmelo de Santa Teresa de Coimbra y la Casa del Inmaculado Corazón de María de Pontevedra (Arzobispado de Santiago de Compostela).

⚠️ Hours and phones change. Those listed here were read on the official websites on September 21, 2026 and are given on that date. Always confirm before you travel. And where we have not been able to verify a data, we say it instead of making it up: in this guide There is neither a schedule, nor an address, nor a distance that has not been read in its source..

The Cova da Iria and the Prayer Entrance

What is it. The place where they happened five of the six apparitions of 1917: May, June, July, September and October. The fourth, August 19, was in Valinhos.

What do you see today? El Prayer Enclosure is the great explanade, delineated to the east by the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary and to the west by the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity. In it:

  • La Encina Grande (Azinheira Grande): a tree over a hundred years old, the only survivor there. ♪ It's not the tree of apparitions. And the Sanctuary himself clarifies it: the shepherds saw the second lightning of May 13, and in their shadow they prayed the rosary waiting. Classified public interest by the Directorate-General for Forestry Resources of Portugal January 2007.
  • Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: golden bronze, of unknown authoroffered by a pilgrim and blessed the 13 May 1932 by nuncio D. João Beda Cardinale. It's in the geographical center of the Sanctuary.
  • A block of the Berlin Wall: 2.6 tons, 3.6 × 1.2 meters, opened August 13, 1994.
  • La Columnata, de António Lino: 200 columns and half columns, 14 altars, viacruces in ceramic from the factory "Viúva Lamego" with Manuel Cargaleiro, and 17 images on it.
  • The High Cross: 34 meters high, 17 wide, in steel, of Robert Schad.
  • Las plazas de Juan Pablo II y de Pius XII, y el pesebre of José Aurélio, inaugurated the dawn of 25 December 1999.

La Capelinha das Apparitions (Capilla de las Appariciones)

What is it. The Sanctuary itself calls her "the heart of the Shrine of Fatima". It is raised at the exact point where, according to the story, the Lady spoke to the shepherds.

What happened here, and his story:

DateDone
28 April - 15 June 1919She's out of her hair.
13 October 1921First Mass held at it
The morning of March 6, 1922Es dinamitada
13 January 1923Restored and reopened
12-13 May 1982The current porch opens, with the first visit of John Paul II
1988 (Marian Year)The roof is forged with pine wood from northern Siberia
The Sanctuary literally says "dynamite," but He doesn't say who did it.. This module doesn't claim it either. The context of official hostility of those years is documented on the Ourém kidnapping page.

The pedestal and the oak. What holds the image is not a "column" but, in the words of the Sanctuary itself, a pedestal: «the pedestal where the image of Our Lady is found marks the place where the small oak on which the Lady of the Rosary appeared».

The image of Our Lady of Fatima:

  • Work of José Ferreira ThedimSan Mamede do Coronado.
  • Madera de cedar de Brasil, 1.04 meters high.
  • Ofrecida en 1920 por Gilberto Fernandes dos SantosFrom Torres Novas.
  • blessed on May 13, 1920 in the parish church of Fatima and taken to the chapel a month later.
  • As amended by the author himself in 1951 and retouched several times more.
  • Solemnly crowned on 13 May 1946 por el cardenal Benedict Aloisi Maselle, legacy of Pius XII.
The Sanctuary says "offered in 1920," no "sculpted in 1920." Here's what the source says.

The crown and bullet of the 1981 attack. This is one of the most burdened objects of contemporary Catholicism history:

  • La precious crown was offered by on 13 October 1942.
  • Es de gold, 1.2 kilos and 313 pearls and 2,679 precious stones.
  • In 1989 the bullet was embedded in it taken from the body of John Paul II after the attack of May 13, 1981, offered by the Pope himself to the Sanctuary on March 26, 1984.
  • The image only hold the precious crown on the days of great pilgrimages.
⚠️ Dos avisos. (1) The Holy See, by the mouth of Cardinal Sodano on 13 May 2000, attests to the fact but without date and without naming the bishop: «At the Bishop's initiative, it was then set in the crown.». The dates of 1984 and 1989 come from the Sanctuarynot the Holy See, and so they are quoted. (2) Another page of the Sanctuary itself says that the crown with the bullet is musealised at the permanent exhibition "Fatima Light and Peace." That is: The day of your visit may not be put in the image. We don't promise otherwise.

El organo de la Capelinha was built by Gerhard Grenzing: sweet records, from manuals.

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima

What is it. The ancient basilica, east of the explanade. He rose in the place where, on May 13, 1917, the pastoralists "jumped making a wall" when they saw the lightning.

The tombs of the three seers

It is what almost every pilgrim seeks, and it is appropriate to know where they are:

SeerWhereSince when

Saint Francis Marto (HEART 4-IV-1919)The opposite arm of the transept1952 ⚠️
Venerable Sister Lucia of Jesus (Laughter)Next to Jacintaleft arm19 February 2006
⚠️ Discrepance within the Sanctuary itself about Francisco: his site page says "from the 13 March 1952"his chronology of the seers says"17 February 1952». Here is written "in 1952" and the double date is declaredinstead of choosing one in silence.

The way of the remains of Jacinta, documented in the official chronology: died in Lisbon on 20 February 1920 and was buried in the cementerio de Vila Nova de Ourém; el 12 September 1935 their remains were transferred to the cementerio of Fatima; el 30 April 1951 were identified, and 1 May they went to the basilica.

Sister Lucia wanted to stay first in Coimbra. He wrote to the bishop: "I would like, after my death, my body to remain buried in the cloister of this Monastery (of Santa Teresa - Coimbra), at least one year, before being transferred to the Basilica of Fatima. "It was fulfilled: she was moved a year and a week after he diedon 19 February 2006, in a celebration with 100,000 pilgrims.

Las images of the seers in their chapels are of Clara Menéres (Jacinta) y José Rodrigues (Francisco), both blessed by John Paul II on May 13, 2000on the day of his beatification.

The Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity

What is it. The new church, west of the explanade. The intention to build it goes back to 1973, by checking that the ancient basilica was not enough.

⚠️ It's not "9,000 places.", figure that runs by rounding. The official data is 8.633.

What's insideand it deserves to be seen: the altar is a unique stone block of the region of about 16 tonnes, with a marmoreous fragment of the tomb of the Apostle Peter embedded in its forehead; the crucifix, of 7,5 m, is of Catherine Greene; the image of Our Lady, in Carrara marble and 3 m, of Benedict Petrogrande; and the great panel- mosaic of the presbyterium, of 10 × 50 m in golden terracotta, is of Marko Ivan Rupnik. The main door of bronze is of Pedro Calacura.

Under the basilica the Galilee of the Apostles Peter and Paul, an underground corridor of 150 meters con azulejos de Álvaro Siza Vieirawhich gives access to five chapels: Most Holy Sacrament (where the Lausperene - life worship - was moved on 13 July 2008), that of the Death of Jesus, la de la Resurrection, la del Sacred Heart y la del Immaculate Heart of Mary. These include 44 confessional.

Nomenclature note, and it's important. This module does not use the expression "Sancta Mad" to designate these places. It was sought in the complete sitemap of the Sanctuary (2,742 URLs) and in all the official material downloaded: 0 coincidences. The Sanctuary groups under "Places of apparitions" exactly these four: Chapel of the Apparitions, Loca do Cabeço, Pozo del Arneiro and Valinhos. If someone uses "Sancta Mad," it is a traditional devotional use in Latin ("holy places"), but cannot be attributed to the Sanctuary.

Aljustre

What is it. The village where the three seers were born and lived, about 2 km from the Shrine.

La casa de Lucía

Where was born and lived Lucia of JesusThe least of six brothers. There they were. the first interviews with the seers. En su patio follow the fig trees in whose shadow the children hid themselves from curiosity and pilgrims.

In 1981, Sister Lucia offered the house to the Sanctuary, who took possession in 1986. In the courtyard was built a reception and information station, opened in August 1994.

The house of Francisco and Jacinta

A 200 meters of the Republic of Lucia. Where the two Marto brothers were born, the children of his family. Acquired by the Sanctuary in November 1996 and then rebuilt.

According to Route of Peregrino official: room immediately left visit the place where Francis spent his last days; en la across the street It was Jacinta before going to the hospital in Ourém and then to the "Dona Estefânia" in Lisbon.

It's two quarters of village, small and poor. Whoever goes looking for a show will be disappointed; whoever goes there knowing that a ten-year-old died and from there a nine-year-old girl came out not to come back, will not forget.

La Casa - Museum of Aljustrel

Next to the home of Lucia. It's the first permanent museum core of the Sanctuary, inaugurado el August 19, 1992and installed in the former residence of Maria Rosa, baptism godmother of Lucia. Four cores on daily life at the time of apparitions.

⚠️ Hours and conditions of visit of the houses and the museum: not verified. No los publicamos. Consúltelos en fatima.pt o en el puesto de acogida de Aljustrel.

The well of the Arneiro

At the bottom of the orchard of Lucia's house. They happened here. two things:

1. La second apparition of the Angel, en el summer of 1916 - "I am the Angel of your guard, the Angel of Portugal."

2. La vision of Jacinta of the Holy Father crying on his knees in a very big house, while they were out throwing stones at him.

The sculptures of the Angel and the pastures are of Maria Irene.

La Loca do Cabeço

What is it. The place where they happened the first and third apparitions of the Angel: the first in the spring 1916the third - that of the Eucharist - in the autumn 1916.

La Narrative officer places the first in "Loca do Cabeço, Nail en los Valinhos».

⚠️ Translation notice: the Spanish version of the website of the Sanctuary writes "Pregonero en los Valinhos," which is a translation error of the Portuguese toponym Nail. The right name is Nail.

What do you see today? The images of Angel and the three children son de Maria Amelia Carvalheira da Silva; the wrought iron grid, of Domingos Soares Branco. It is a hole between rocks, on the hillside: the coldest and most silent place of the whole set, and probably the most moving.

Valinhos

What is it. The place of Fourth apparition of Our Lady, August 19, 1917 - the one that occurred outside the Cova da Iria because on the 13th the children had been held by the administrator of Ourém.

Where is it: between 8th and 9th season the viacruces of the Pastorite Road.

What you see today: the monument was built with offerings from Hungarian CatholicsThe image was sculpted. Maria Amelia Carvalheira da SilvaThe niche that houses it is the architect's. António Lino.

The Way of the Cross of the Pastorites and the Hungarian Calvary

⚠️ Official name: «Through the Cross on the Path of the Hungarian Pastorites and Calvary. "The name" Via Sacra dos Valinhos " does not appear on the official pages. It is also known as Via Sacra Hungarian.

Tour: starts at Rotonda de Santa Teresa de Ourem (South roundabout), follow the path that the pastures usually walked and end in the Hungarian calvary, originally called "Hungarian Calvary Cardinal Mindszenty."

History: the fourteen seasons and the chapel were offered by the Catholics of Hungary y proyectadas por Ladislau Marec.

La Capilla de Santo Estevão (San Esteban)in Calvary, is dedicated to St Stephen, king of Hungary. The lower relief panels and the image of Our Lady Patron of Hungary are of Maria Amelia Carvalheira da Silva; the sculptures of the calvary, of Domingos Soares Brancothe windows with Hungarian saints, Pedro Prokop. On the roof, of the large mosaics: the apparition of Our Lady to the three seers and the surrender of the crown of Hungary to Our Lady by King Stephen.

May a people crushed by communism pay the viacruces of Fatima in 1959 and return in 1992 to put the season of the resurrection is, by itself, one of the most eloquent stories of the sanctuary. And it's a documented story, not a pious assumption.
⚠️ Length in kilometers and duration on foot of the route: not verified. No las publicamos.

The parish church of Fatima and the cemetery

What is it. The parish where the three seers were baptizedwith their identified seats in the official chronology of the Sanctuary:

SeerBautismoSeat
Lucia of Jesus30 March 1907n.º 31/1907
Francisco Marto20 June 1908n.º 39/1908
Jacinta Marto19 March 1910n.º 19/1910

Here he received Lucia the first communion (the priest did not admit her at six years; he intercepted the Father Cruz and he spoke the following year), and here he was blessed the image of Thedim on May 13, 1920.

En May 2000after the beatification of his cousins, Sister Lucia returned to the Loca do Cabeço, to Aljustrel and to this church.

The Cemetery of Fatima saved the remains of Jacinta between 12 September 1935 and 1 May 1951.

⚠️ Not verified and therefore not published: the exact advocation and the time of the parish, its postal address, and the distance to the Sanctuary (it is usually said "3 km," but we have not read it in official source). Nor is it verified that Francis was buried in the Fatima cemetery before 1952.
This is what almost no Spanish pilgrim knows: the two apparitions that contain the concrete requests of the message of Fatima - the first five Saturdays and the consecration of Russia - occurred en Galicia, no en Portugal.

Pontevedra - House of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

⚠️ AT LA CONFUNDA CON LA PERREGRINA. El Sanctuary of the Virgin Pilgrim, in the Plaza de la Pilgrim, is another building and something else, with no connection to Sister Lucia. The place of apparition is officially called House of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, y popularmente «Casa de la Virgen». The name "Sanctuary of Apparitions," which circulates in encyclopedia and press, is not used by the official site website.

What happened here:

  • 10 December 1925: being in his cell, Lucia - who in Galicia used the name of Dolores- receives the apparition of the Virgin with the Child Jesus and the request of the repairing devotion of the first five Saturdays.
  • 15 February 1926: second apparition, en el patioThe child whom he had sent to pray to the church of Santa Maria la Mayor reveals how the Child Jesus.

La casa. It's an old one. urban palacete, built "very possibly at the end of the 15th century"; from the original layout only one Conopial arc door on the south wall, today blinded. It was reformed in depth between the 17th and 18th centuries (the endowments). It was the captain's home. Esteban Rodríguez de Castro, Pontevedra regir in 1627.

📌 Two legends that the official website itself deniesand should not repeat them: that the arches should come from a late convent, and that there should be the primitiva sinagoga of the city - "claim that there is no documentary or archaeological evidence."

How the Doroteas got there. They arrived in Pontevedra in 1911from Portugal, expelled by the 1910 revolution, and first settled in the Santa Clara district. In 1918 they moved to the journey of Elizabeth II, occupying this house, bought for them by the Riestra Calderón family. In 1957 the classrooms were moved to Alfonso XIII Street; 1972 closed the boarding school and the property was sold to the World Apostolate of Fatima. Since 2023 the owner is the Spanish Episcopal Conferencewhich has undertaken a comprehensive restoration for structural failures.

Y a precise tooth: the journey of Elizabeth II ended by adopting the name of Saint Lucia Street. The historical direction given by the seer himself in his 1930 letter - "Pontevedra, Paseía de Isabel II" - is today that street.

What to visit today:

  • The upper chapel, where Sr Lucia's cell was (capacity 120). The original walls of the cell are no longer, due to deterioration, but the original ceiling beam is preservedand the new chapel leaves in sight the wood structure of the old attic, where Lucia secretly wrote much of her Memories.
  • The lower chapel (capacity 60), which has something extraordinary: the altar table and the wooden tree of the chapel of the Doroteas of TuiI mean, the physical framework of the vision of 13 June 1929. Other way dicho: part of Tui is in Pontevedra today.
  • El patiowhere Sister Lucia met the Child Jesus. In his tapia there was a size commissioned by the World Fatima Apostolate of Chicago en memoria de J. F. Kennedy; el 10 December 2025 was replaced by a new 80 cm image of the workshop El Ángel Arte Sacro (Madrid), inspired by the face of the Child Jesus of Olot.
  • La size of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of the Sculptor José Rivas, approved by Sister Lucia after rejecting several sketches.
  • And close, in the Basilica of Santa Maria la Mayor, the canvas that the seer considered most faithful to her vision.

Practical data (read on the official website of 21 September 2026• confirms that:

  • Telefono: 986 103 117 · WhatsApp: 698 185 580
  • Correo: casadelinmaculadocorazon@gmail.com
  • Time: de 9:30 a 13:30 y de 16:30 a 20:30.
  • Daily Mass at 18: 00; Saturdays at 10: 00. Daily Rosary at 19: 00 - but the web sets these schedules "during this Jubilee Year," so son temporales.
  • Group space reservations by form, at least one week in advance. It's forbidden to record the relay the activities of the groups within the House.
⚠️ The opening days do not publish them because the official website itself contradicts: in one section it says "Tuesday to Sunday" and in another "Monday to Sunday." Llame al 986 103 117 antes de ir.

The Jubilee Year of the Centenary (verified on the official website): the 10 December 2025with Mass presided over by the Archbishop of Santiago; the decrees granting the Apostolic Blessing and the Plenary indulgence were given in Rome the 19 November 2025. The Holy See grants full indulgence to pilgrims who visit the House during the Jubilee Year confessing, communicating and praying for the intentions of the Holy Father. The Shrine of Fatima joined the opening, and the diocese of Leiria- Fatima has made a four-year pastoral plan 2026-2029 focused on the message of Pontevedra and Tui.

⚠️ The closing date of the Jubilee Year is not verified. The web only gives a booking window until 9 December 2026, which is not necessarily the closing date.

Tui (Pontevedra) - the house of the Doroteas

What happened here. El 13 June 1929at night, with Lucia alone in the chapel doing the Holy Hour, had the vision of the Santísima Trinidad and received the formal request for the consecration of Russia "in union with all the Bishops of the world." Here he also wrote, years later, much of his Memories, and here he wrote the 3 January 1944 the third part of the secret.

What to say honestly about visiting Tui:

⚠️ This is the weakest point of the whole guide. La web de la Diocese of Tu-Vigo devolvió HTTP 301 en bucle And we couldn't read a line. We have not been able to verify the full postal address, the phone, or if the chapel can be visited today.

By press - not by official source - the house is in the Calle Martínez Padín and today is the Nursing in the province of Spain of the Doroteas, that is, an active religious community, not a temple with public hours. The religious themselves stated in 2017: "We have the memory of your passage here, but we have nothing special about Sister Lucia.. "There's a plate on the front.

Recommendation: do not wait to visit the chapel. Any visit must be made in advance, and we cannot give you the phone because we have not verified it.

The good newsand is among the best of this guide: the altar table and the arqueria of that chapel of Tui are preserved in the lower chapel of the House of Pontevedra. Whoever wants to pray before the physical framework of the vision of consecration, He has it in Pontevedra..

Carmel himself warns that They have their own schedule. the Christmas celebrations, Easter Vigil, Easter Sunday, Our Lady of Carmen, St. Theresa of Jesus and February 13, the anniversary of the death of Venerable Sister LuciaYou have to write before.

⚠️ Quality control warning, so that the criterion of this guide is understood: When preparing this page, an assisted consultation returned for this Memorial a different and false schedule. It was discarded for contradicting the official website downloaded. What is published here is what the Carmel website, read on September 21, 2026, says.
⚠️ Not verified and therefore not published: the entry price of the Memorial, and the exact place of the cloister where Sister Lucia was buried that year.

It is not a commercial recommendation and it has no timetable: it is the order that follows the storyThat's the best way to understand the place.

1. Aljustre: the two houses. Start where they started.

2. The well of the Arneiro, at the bottom of the orchard of Lucia: second apparition of the Angel, and vision of Jacinta.

3. La Loca do Cabeço: first and third apparitions of the Angel. Sit down and stay quiet for a while.

4. Valinhos: the apparition of 19 August, which the State wanted to prevent.

5. The Cova da Iria and the Capelinha: the place of the other five.

6. The Basilica of the Rosary: the three graves.

7. The Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity y la Galilé.

8. Y is held tiempo, el via the Cross of the Path of the Pastoriteswhich physically links Aljustrel with Valinhos.

And if you're Spanish: Pontevedra and Tui are not an appendix to Fatima. They are part of the same story, they are a step away from home, and there was asked what is still being discussed today throughout the Church.

Final method score. What does not appear in this guide is as deliberate as what appears. We do not give the opening days of Pontevedra because its website contradicts; we do not give the direction of Tui because the official source was inaccessible; we do not give the distance from the parish to the Sanctuary because we have not read it; we do not give the price of the Memorial of Coimbra because it is not published. A guide who invents a schedule makes someone lose a trip.
