Las mass pilgrimages a Kulubi are a well-attested feature: thousands of faithful, many of them on foot, come to ask intercession, fulfill promises, thank you for favors and participate in long liturgical celebrations. In the Ethiopian context, these pilgrimages are lived with a deep Marian dimension: the faithful carry with them icons and prints of the Mother of God, pray traditional Marian prayers, sing hymns in their honor and entrust to the Virgin their family and personal needs. The love of the Ethiopian people to the Mother of God is particularly intense in these concentrations of faith.
Link to the Rosary
En la Ethiopian Orthodox IglesiaMarian spirituality is very rich, but it is expressed in its own forms, different from the devotion of the Rosary as it is prayed in Latin Catholic tradition. It does not contain, in the sources consulted, a specific or historical relationship between "Nuestra Señora de Kulubi" and the prayer of the Rosary in a Catholic sense; there are no documents of the Rosary or other explicitly rosarian initiatives linked to this sanctuary.
However, from a broader Marian perspective, the Rosary It can spiritually accompany devotion to the Mother of God who lives in Kulubi. By meditating on the mysteries of Christ's life together with Mary, the Rosary helps to enter into the same attitude of faith that characterizes so many Ethiopian pilgrims: confidence in the intercession of the Theotokos, contemplation of the mysteries of salvation and filial abandonment in the hands of the Mother of God. Where the Christian people manifest a deep love for Mary - as in Kulubi - the Rosary presents itself as a privileged way to unite Marian piety with the contemplation of the face of Christ.
