Virgin of Encina
Marian title of Hoyo de Manzanares (Community of Madrid)
Main title of Hoyo de Manzanares, also formerly called 'Virgin of the Hoyo'. The original parish church was dedicated to it since the 15th century (built of Berrocal stone, finished with swordsman and bells in the 17th century). The first documentary constancy of the festive tradition of La Caldereta - thanksgiving to the Virgin for the crops - dates from 1767, although it is considered earlier, possibly linked to the medieval segovian pastors.
