Our Lady of Fuensanta
Patrona de Córdoba
In the Cordobese district of the Fuensana, next to a spring that was miraculous, we are to sell Our Lady of the Fuensana, patron of Córdoba, in a Gothic-Mudejar sanctuary of the 15th century.

Origin and history
The tradition links the origin to an apparition of the Virgin and to the outbreak of a spring of salutary waters: the Virgin, accompanied by the Cordobese martyrs Saint Acisclo and Saint Victoria, would have indicated to a humble wool cardator, Gonzalo, a well whose waters healed his family; later, the image was found in the trunk of a fig tree leaning over the well. This whole story belongs to popular piety.
The sanctuary was built in the second half of the 15th century (about 1450-1476), in Gothic-Mudejar style, in the place of tradition. Reformed in the Baroque era and restored in the 20th century, it retains the church, the atrium, the old host and the "Pocito" temple. The Virgin is patron of Cordoba and her Group of Cofradies, and was crowned canonically in 1994.
